The Ecological Garden

The garden of tomorrow?

Pollution of environment, industrialization and the use of previously untapped land have completely changed our attitude towards nature. As it is the fundamental basis for every living creature, there is a trend to recollect the biological cycles of coming and going and to remember almost forgotten knowledge about cosmic rhythms, like in the lunar calendar. "Weed" has been replaced by the expression "wild herb". Indigenous plants are re-discovered and small biotopes for animals, like ponds and wild hedges, have become common elements of modern gardens. It is now a place of vital importance and esthetical appeal. This new trend actually comes from Germany. The aim is to create landscapes with a varied structure, and to find out how different ecosystems work, so they can be preserved and used properly.

In this garden, you will find the Peony (Paenonia officinalis), Creeping Phlox (Phlox), Lady´s Mantle (Alchemilla mollis), Shasta Daisy (Chrysanthemum maximum), Speedwell (Veronica austriaca)...
